BASF to establish new PU facilities

BASF has announced that it is to expand its global service and production network for polyurethane (PU).
The company is to establish a new polyurethane solutions system house in Chongqing, China, to meet the demands of growing markets in western China, including in footwear.
The company will also set up a similar facility in Cartagena, Colombia, to meet the demand of the growing markets in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, again to meet the demands of a number of growing manufacturing sectors, including footwear.
On announcing these developments, Anton Traunfellner, managing director of BASF Polyurethanes in South America, commented: “We expect the market for PU systems in the Andean region to grow in the coming decade by 6 %.”
