Footwear prices rise in Cyprus
According to the statistics office of Cyprus, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1% in March compared with the February index.
The main reason for the rise was an increase in footwear and clothing prices, as well as rises in petrol prices.
The index’s rate of increase, and therefore the rate of inflation for March, fell to 2.4% from 2.9% in February but is significantly higher than the 1.1% rate recorded in March 2009.
For the period January-March 2010, the CPI recorded an increase of 2.6% compared with the corresponding period in 2009.
