Vietnamese footwear firms remain optimistic
According to a study undertaken by US-based Kearny Alliance Foundation, Vietnam’s shoemakers are anticipating steady export growth in 2010 despite the extended EU anti-dumping duties.
The non-profit organisation found that 90% of the country’s footwear exporters are anticipating export growth this year, with 47% targeting the EU market.
The survey showed that 60% of footwear manufacturers will maintain their quotas for 2011. And, despite concerns over the 10% anti-dumping duties, the majority of respondents felt the 16% imposed on Chinese shoes gives them a competitive advantage.
