Bakers increases quarterly profit

Saint Louis-based shoe retailer Bakers Footwear Group posted a more than 11-fold jump in quarterly profit for the fourth quarter of its most recent business year after it reduced income.
For the fourth quarter ended January 30, it earned $5.6 million compared to $483,000.
Revenue rose nearly 4% to $57.6 million.
Cost of goods fell 4% to $36.6 million, while general and administrative expenses fell 24% to $3.7 million.
