High-end footwear brand Tod's has announced that fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will work with it to produce a special collection under its Hogan label.

Mr Lagerfeld said in a statement that he liked the idea of collaborating with Diego Della Valle, the founder, president and chief executive of Tod’s.

The New York Times said Mr Della Valle was looking to globalise the reach of Hogan, founded in 1988. It has been developed by his son Emanuele as a creative and inventive provider of technosport and urban footwear and leathergoods.

The brand represented 36%, or EUR 256.9 million, of the group’s sales in 2009, which reached EUR 713.1 million.

Mr Della Valle said Karl Lagerfeld was “one of the creative geniuses of our century”.
