A man has been arrested in Seoul, South Korea, for allegedly stealing at least 1,200 pairs of shoes.

The shoes were stolen when funeral-goers removed their shoes during the funeral service as a mark of respect. According to reports, the accused, known as Park, would then remove his own pair of shoes and walk away in a more expensive pair. He was allegedly planning to sell them on through his second-hand shoe firm.

The shoes have been recovered and police have invited people who are missing theirs to reclaim them.

He was caught stealing three pairs of shoes worth $1,750 when purchased at the last funeral he attended. They then discovered a warehouse full of stolen shoes at a premises belonging to the man.
