Crocs to expand India business

Footwear brand Crocs is planning to double the number of stores in which it has a presence in India by next year.

The company entered the Indian market in 2007 under a joint venture with Chogori Footwear, is looking to increase its presence in the multi-branded outlets to tap into tier-two cities.

The company aims to end the year 2010 with up to 25 exclusive outlets, up from 11 now. It also has a presence in around 250 multi-branded stores across India, including Metro, Lifestyle and Planet Sports.

This year Crocs is also looking to enter another 100 multi-branded outlets.

Indian media quoted Mike Debell, Crocs vice-president for south Asia, as saying the company is looking at major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune as locations for its new exclusive brand outlets.
