Collective Brands makes acquisition

Footwear group Collective Brands has moved to acquire Above The Rim (ATR), an athletic footwear brand that specialises in urban and basketball collections, from sports company Reebok International.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by the companies involved.
Collective Brands has said it will work to expand ATR “to seize opportunities for the brand in the US and across the globe”.
The chief executive of the licensing division of Collective, Bruce Pettet, explained: “We believe ATR has tremendous potential as an authentic basketball brand in the US and other geographic markets that are eager for brands that embody the aspirational basketball lifestyle that ATR represents.”
