07/01/2010
The Timberland Company is to sponsor the Sundance Film Festival for the second year running. The outdoor firm will be the festival’s official footwear and outerwear sponsor. The event takes place in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah, from January 21–31.
The brand will provide winter boots and exclusive, co-branded Timberland-Sundance Film Festival jackets for more than 300 festival filmmakers and programming team members, as well as gloves for more than 2,000 festival volunteers to help protect them from the winter weather.
Timberland will also support the festival’s on-site environmental efforts by sponsoring walking maps and transit signage throughout Park City, as well as promoting eco-conscious modes of transportation that will help alleviate road congestion and smog emissions.
“At Timberland, we are passionate about the outdoors and protecting it for future generations. Right down to our logo, a tree. It's in our roots, it's who we are,” said Theresa Palermo, senior director of North American marketing for Timberland. “The Sundance Film Festival presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our products—which are perfect for Utah’s wintry landscape—while also sharing in the festival's commitment to supporting forward-thinking artists and preserving the environment.”
The company will also offer consumers a sneak peek at the brand's autumn 2010 premium footwear and outerwear lines including its popular Earthkeepers line of boots for men and women, which are partly made from recycled materials.
