Stahl India opens new lab

Specialty chemicals provider Stahl has opened a new leather finish applications laboratory in Ambur, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The new facility is the fourth laboratory of its kind that the company’s Indian division has set up, with the other three already in operation in Chennai, Kanpur and Kolkata. The company said its decision to add the Ambur laboratory was testament to the importance of leather and footwear manufacturing in Tamil Nadu.
At the inauguration ceremony, Stahl chief executive, Huub van Beijeren, said his company remained committed to innovation and to the industry in India, and had plans to open more leather finish application laboratories there in future. The company says these facilities allow it to help footwear manufacturers and tanners upgrade the quality of the raw materials they have to work with and to meet the specifications of today’s market.
