Footwear brands focus on film stars

04/01/2010

The Spanish National Footwear Federation (FICE) has opened a special exhibition in Madrid to show off shoes specially designed for the country’s most famous film stars.

The exhibition, called ‘Calzando los Goya’, or Footwear for the Goya Awards (Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars), will be open to the public at the headquarters of the national film academy in the centre of Madrid.

FICE organised the event as part of a wider campaign to promote Spanish shoes in the domestic market. It asked high-end footwear brands there—including Armand Basi, Barrats, Calce, Chie Mihara, George’s, John Spencer, Looky, Lorens, Magnanni, Magrit, Mascaró, Nacho Rivera, Patricia Rosales, Pedro Miralles, Pertini, Pretty Ballerinas, Pura López, Rebeca Sanver, Sacha London, Sancho Boots, Sara Navarro, Sinela and Zampiere—to come up with designs that they thought would appeal to stars such as Penélope Cruz, Maribel Verdú and Inés Sastre.

The 2010 Goya Awards will be presented on February 14. The special exhibition will run until February 19.
