Quanzhou shoemakers focus on leisure shoes
Shoemakers in Quanzhou, China, who have until now focused on producing leather, sport and ladies’ shoes, are now turning their attention to making leisure shoes. Material suppliers in the area are also adapting their productions to fit this trend.
One example of this is major sports shoe brand Leixun, which has decided to produce leisure shoes on a much bigger scale.
According to reports, the leisure shoe market in China has grown rapidly in the same way the sports shoe segment burgeoned around seven or eight years ago. However, it is still a relatively new niche for the country, with no major established brands in operation so far. China currently produces fairly low-end leisure shoes and some firms have struggled to compete with its overseas competitors. However, it is looking to improve the quality of its offering in order to add value to the leisure shoes it produces.
