He said the measures, which impose duties of 10% on their exports to Europe, and which may still be extended, were unreasonable.
“If shoe exports generally recover in 2010, the footwear industry can expect growth of between 15% and 20% compared to 2009 thanks to the removal of the EU duties,” he said.
Local media quoted one footwear company director, Nguyen Duy Thuan, as predicting that orders will increase by between 30% and 40% if the measures are lifted. He said he had lost a substantial number of customers since the anti-dumping duties were first imposed in 2006.
