The company said on launching the new product, Romans Cad version 9, that it will enable manufacturers in these markets to meet the challenges of today’s market, while offering “new development opportunities in line with consumer demand”.
This new version of the solution suite, Lectra says, will give manufacturers more control over profit margins and costs, make it easier for them to launch new collections more frequently, reduce time to market, improve production quality, and reduce design and production times as well as the number of physical prototypes needed throughout the process.
The technology provider’s claim is that the new version of Romans Cad—named after the once iconic footwear manufacturing town in France—can cut the time needed to design a new collection by up to 30%.
Lectra’s chief executive, Daniel Harari, said at the launch: “The footwear and leathergoods industries face many challenges at the moment: an increasingly complex product development process, a constant demand for new collections, and multiple design and production sites spread throughout the world. Romans Cad allows them to focus on adding value to models, saving time, and controlling costs.”
