Anti-dumping: Aokang president welcomes news

The president of Chinese footwear manufacturer Aokang Group has said he welcomes the result of a vote in Brussels on November 19 in which a majority of European Union member states voted against a proposed extension of anti-dumping duties on leather footwear imports from China and Vietnam.

Wang Zhentao said this was news he had been waiting three years to hear (the extra duties, 16.5% on shoes from China, came into force in 2006) and that he anticipated further rejection of any extension as a formal review of the measures comes to an end.

He commented: “I believe this will bring a large increase in export and employment in the Chinese shoemaking sector.”
