Italian shoes on show at MoMA

High-end Italian shoes with platform soles will feature at a special exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) from December 3.
The exhibition, which has the title Inner Treasures, is organised by the National Association of Italian Shoemakers (ANCI) in partnership with Italy’s export promotions agency, and will feature shoes dating from a period spanning from the 1930s to the 1970s.
ANCI director, Fabio Aromatici, said on announcing the event that the idea was to try to “tell the story of the remarkable tradition of Italian shoemaking” through a specific item, in this case the platform sole. He said the MoMA venture would help the Italian footwear industry increase its profile in the US market.
