President praises industry’s responsiveness

The president of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet, has said he values highly the achievements of the country’s leather and footwear sectors in export earnings and job creation.
During a reception for 79 outstanding firms from the leather sector and textile industries in Hanoi at the end of October, Mr Triet said he realised how much these “sensitive” industries could be affected by changes in the world economy, but he said they were good at responding to changes. They had, the president added, managed to improve their management practices, their production capacity, their business knowledge and their marketing ability.
Vietnamese companies in leather and footwear, and in the textile area, are also good at responding to customers’ needs, the president said.
