New finishing products at ATC
French leather chemicals manufacturer ATC recently introduced a new range of finishing products for shoes and leathergoods called ATC Addiction.
The collection includes a selection of resin binders, such as: Actybind IS, a soft acrylic impregnation binder with very fine particles for lightly corrected/snuffed grain shoe upper leathers; Actybind IT, a tight acrylic copolymer impregnation binder for corrected grain and split shoe leathers; Actybind R55, a medium hard acrylic copolymer which offers excellent resistance to wet rubbing tests and good resistance to acetone; and Actybind R 73, a medium soft, self-crosslinking acrylic binder offering high physical performances (100,000 wet and dry flexes). Other resin binders in the range include: Actybind C 7225, a soft covering base coat acrylic compact for low selection full grain or corrected grain leathers; Actybind CAS, a compact of acrylic binder with strong fillers; Actybind CPM, a compact of polyurethane plus acrylic polymer; and Actybind PU 1169, a polyurethane and micro acrylic blended binder.
Auxiliary products in the new range include: Actywax FF, a compound of soft emulsion wax that offers anti-tacky properties even in hot and humid conditions; Actywax BW, a burnish wax made from selected hard waxes and oil; Actymax S2, a compound of pre-foamed fillers in polyurethane; Actymax S 94, a versatile stucco that can be used in all finishing operations to fill medium and lighter grain damage; Actywax 1008, a soft non-ionic wax emulsion; and Actywax CW, modified hard waxes in solution mainly used in fashion finishing to give a smooth brighter surface aspect. Others products in the auxiliary range include: Actyfil A, an anionic filler used to fill small without affecting the natural grain break; Acty-Oil SV 1800, a high molecular synthetic oil solution that produces a significant dark pull-up effect; and Acty-Oil SV 2000, a blend of synthetic and natural oil emulsion which produces the classic “oil pull up” effect.
New casein binders include: Actylust PS, a combination of polyamide with natural proteins, suitable for soft milled leathers; Actylust SFT, a medium soft casein, with a transparent film that is resistant to solvent; Actylust HB, a very hard casein used as a high-gloss top coat for glazed leathers; Actylust 1079, a protein mixed with hard waxes which offers high gloss when polished or glazed; and Actylust LW, a protein binder incorporating a small amount of medium hard waxes.
Finally, new top coats and feel modifiers in the range are: Actytop WB 211, a medium soft water-based emulsion lacquer; Actytop PU 325G, an aqueous dispersion of aliphatic polyurethane; Actytop EFCI, an organic polyfunctional water-based fixation to be used as a substitute for formaldehyde; Actytouch WS 106, a solvent-free, water-based feel modifier that gives a silky/slippery touch; and Actytouch WG 38, a water-based feel modifier that can be used in all water-based top coats, for example lacquer emulsions and polyurethanes.
