More DMF testing requests at Satra
28/10/2009
Satra says it has noticed an increase in requests for leather footwear and furniture testing following the recent EU ban of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) from consumer articles in the EU. DMF is not used during the manufacture of leather articles, but is placed in sachets that are put inside furniture, shoe boxes or other packaging material to inhibit mould that could otherwise harm the products during transport and storage.
A number of retailers and importers have contacted the testing centre for advice on how to comply with the legislation. Satra then analyses products or materials for DMF as well as giving advice on mould problems and the use of silica gel and other packing materials.
