Polimoda introduces new fashion courses
Florence-based fashion and design school Polimoda, which has a dedicated leathergoods and footwear laboratory, is introducing new English language Masters courses in design and marketing, starting January 2010.
More than 40% of students enrolled on is courses are foreign students, so the course will cater for these students, helping them to develop talents that will provide added value in the job market.
Marketing courses available will include luxury management, fashion merchandising and management, fashion buying, visual merchandising and retail management. The design courses include advanced fashion design, advanced fashion footwear design, advanced fashion bags and accessories, design and art, and fashion exhibition design. All of these Masters courses last nine months, at the end of which students take part in a three-month internship at one of the 2,000 companies Polimoda works alongside.
Maristella Giannini, Head of Polimoda's marketing department, says:“The Polimoda Masters courses in the marketing area truly reflect the actual requirements of the market. The profiles developed in the retail, buying and visual areas are currently much requested by companies and the employment levels of students who frequent a Polimoda Masters in marketing are high. One of the plus factors that we offer is without doubt the formula of instruction in English which provides the opportunity of employment also in foreign multinationals. In addition, the programmes are intended to provide specific organisational, management and communication skills at the sales point in the retail area, trained professionals with a knowledge of fashion products and well defined market strategies for the buying area, and image consultants capable of combining creativity and visual marketing strategies in the visual area. We have also had excellent results with the Master in luxury management relating specifically to luxury markets, and with fashion merchandising and management.”
Patrick De Muynck, head of design at Polimoda, said: “Design is the basic element in the success of a product, whether clothing or an accessory. Polimoda's programmes are structured to provide all the factors that will stimulate the student's vast creative potential and means of expression through the multicultural approach of our teaching methods. We encourage the exchange of different ways of interpreting fashion, individual views that then become universal. Increasingly today's market is looking for profiles that combine creative ability and professionalism capable of adapting to the requirements of the international market. We have found there is a great demand for this in the designer market for footwear and accessories, as well as for professionals increasingly specialised in fashion design, and this is a demand we can fully satisfy thanks to the high standard of our courses.”
The closing date for applications is October 30 for non-European Union students and 30 November for European Union students.
