Higher sales at Skechers
Skechers has posted a slight improvement in sales for the third quarter of 2009.
Net sales for quarter totalled $405.4 million compared with $403.2 million in the third quarter of 2008. However, net earnings for the quarter were $24.5, down from $28.3 million in the third quarter of 2008.
Net sales for the nine months ended September 30 were $1 billion compared with $1.1 billion during the first nine months of 2008. Net earnings for the first nine months were $26.8 million, down from $75.8 million during the first nine months of 2008.
“Our third quarter sales reached a new record high and we saw our operating income increase by over 31% in spite of the continued soft retail environment," said David Weinberg, chief operating officer.
Gross profit for the third quarter was $183.7 million compared with $171.5 million in the third quarter of 2008.
