Adidas Golf uses ion-mask technology

Adidas Golf has is to use P2i’s ion-mask liquid-repellent nano-coating in its high-performance golf footwear line.

The technology will initially be used to improve the performance of two new styles that are set to début in the adidas Golf spring-summer 2010 collection, which will be available in January 2010. The company expects to use it more extensively in subsequent 2010 and 2011 collections.

The technology applies a nanoscopic protective polymer layer to the whole shoe, causing water to form beads and rolls off rather than being absorbed. It is said to give the whole shoe, including the stitching, superior water repellency, helping to stop external water getting in and encouraging evaporated perspiration to flow out.
