Falcon incorporates soft metatarsal guard

The high performance foams division of Rogers Corporation has teamed up with safety footwear manufacturer Falcon to develop a "revolutionary soft, flexible and conforming foam metatarsal guard that exceeds current safety footwear industry standards".
The new Poron XRD metatarsal guard features in the new Falcon M1023 Mining Boot and replaces existing rigid, inflexible steel or plastic guards for this part of the foot. The companies have said that the new design is so soft and flexible that testing labs thought the metatarsal guard was missing. In the end, Poron XRD technology withstood all tests.
Dave Sherman, who manages new developments in Poron cushioning for Rogers, commented: “Miners and firefighters alike test their limits on a daily basis and need exceptional equipment they can rely on. It is in these extreme conditions where Poron materials will continually outlast and out perform other cushioning and impact protection materials.”
