Shoe production falls rapidly in the Philippines

According to reports, the manufacturing sector in the Philippines has taken some major knocks since the start of the economic slowdown.

Petroleum products were the worst hit falling 48.7% in the year ended July 2009 compared with the previous year. Other sectors that reported significant declines included leathergoods (-47%), footwear and apparel (-32%) and rubber and plastic products (-13.5%).
