A young artist from Sest San Giovanni, near Milan, has won first prize in a special painting competition that the Italian Footwear Manufacturers' Association (ANCI) organised to help victims of the earthquake that hit the Abbruzo region in April.
ANCI asked young artists to portray luxury Italian footwear in a painting and displayed 30 of the works it received from people all over the world at the Micam exhibition in Milan in September. Visitors to the exhibition were asked to bid for the paintings, with the proceeds going to victims of the earthquake
At a special press conference at the event on September 18, the organisation named Jose Sala as the winner for his painting of a stylish red shoe trailing behind it a shadow in the shape of the map of Italy. He received a commemorative plaque from ANCI president, Vito Artioli.
