Increasing optimism among Spanish footwear manufacturers has led to an 18% increase in the number of companies that travelled from Spain to take part in the latest edition of the GDS exhibition, which began in Düsseldorf on September 11.

According to Javier García Lillo, commercial director of
the Spanish Footwear Industry Federation (FICE), Spanish shoes have been performing relatively well in the export market, which has given manufacturers a degree of optimism. Results for the first half of the year showed shoe exports to have increased by 2.1% in volume and by 3.7% in value.

In all, 52 Spanish firms travelled to Germany to exhibit at GDS this time.
