Tanneries and leathergoods and footwear manufacturers in the Nigerian state in Lagos have taken part in discussions aimed at improving waste management across all industries there.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has said that poor waste management strategies among manufacturing firms is the principal cause of industrial pollution in that part of the African country.

The agency’s general manager, Adebola Shabi, said he believed improvements in environmental practice would help revive industries such as leather and textile production in Lagos.
