Imports provoke fall in production in Venezuela
07/09/2009
A footwear industry body in Venezuela has claimed that the country imported enough shoes in 2008 to cover consumer needs in the South American country for two years.
The Venezuelan Footwear Chamber said that retailers and traders in the country imported 95 million pairs of shoes last year. The organisation’s president, Nicola Moretti, said that as a direct result of the increase in imports, footwear production in Venezuela had fallen by 30%.
