On the back of strong first-half sales and profits, Italian luxury shoe and bag maker Tod's believes things are really looking up for the second half of the year. Demand for shoes was particularly strong during the six-month period.

Net profit rose 3.1% to EUR 41.9 million ($60 million) during the first six months, while revenues rose 3.4% to EUR 359 million.

"In the light of the signals in our shops in the last few weeks, I believe the second half of the year could also give us good results," chairman and chief executive officer, Diego Della Valle.
