Moderate decline in exhibitors at GDS
Exhibitor numbers are likely to be just slightly lower at the upcoming edition of GDS, which run September 11-13 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
“We have been working very hard on this over the past few months,” says GDS director, Kirstin Deutelmoser, at a press conference ahead of the event. “In view of the general economic climate the 7% drop in exhibitors, or 50 exhibiting firms, is also very moderate. And it is striking that this development primarily concerns the mid market segment. Strong premium and quality brands plus many new collections are continuing to focus on GDS for their sales and communication.”
Around 765 exhibitors (correct as of August 20) from 31 countries are expected to present more than 1,800 collections for the spring-summer 2010 season at the event.
A number of new exhibitors will attend the show, and many companies that are retuning, such as Carlafe, Norberto Costa and Flip Flop will launch new collections at the show.
“That manufacturers are bringing exciting innovations onto the market at times like these shows just how lively the shoe business is. There is always something to discover. A visit to GDS is worthwhile just to see these brands alone,” Ms Deutelmoser continued.
