Vietnam misses leather target
The Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association, Lefaso, has reported that the country’s leather and footwear sector is likely to miss its annual target.
It claims the sector’s export earnings are expected to total $4.59 billion this year, matching last year’s earnings. However, the figure is expected to miss the target by 10%, according to Lefaso chairwoman Nguyen Thi Tong.
Year-to-date footwear export revenues totalled $2.79 billion, down $327 million year-on-year. Leather bag exports totalled $450 million, up slightly compared with the prior-year period.
