Delcam introduces new design software

19/08/2009

UK-based supplier of advanced CADCAM systems Delcam is to present the new version of its ShoeDesign software for upper design in the US for the first time. The US debut will take place at the Apparel and Footwear Materials Show (AFM) held in Portland on September 10-11.

The main change in the new release of ShoeDesign is a revised user interface, which, according to the company, has made the software easier to learn, and simpler and more intuitive to use. It is said to speed the development of new styles by allowing faster creation of original designs and by using clear images to reduce the need for physical samples.

In the latest version, the development of styles is controlled through a new “activities” toolbar covering the complete process right from the import of the last shape through to the export of the finished design. The software allows the user to draw style lines directly onto the last. Users can also apply colours, textures, padding and material thicknesses to the various elements and add features such as stitching, eyelets and laces, or accessories such as buckles and trims.

The company will also display other recent additions to its range of systems for footwear design and manufacture.
