Vietnamese leather exports down 10%

14/08/2009

According to Vietnam’s Leather and Footwear Association, Lefaso, the country’s leather and footwear exports fell 10% during the first seven months of 2009.

Exports for the seven-month period totalled $2.5 billion, while export turnover for July was $400 million.

Lefaso has pointed out that leather and shoe exports for the rest of 2009 will need to exceed $2 billion if the country is to meet its export target. The association claims many are using the internet as a way of increasing overseas sales.
