Turkish shoe warehouse catches fire

A fire broke out at the Yesil Kundura San footwear warehouse in Istanbul, Turkey, last week.

According to reports, it took three hours to get the blaze under control, in which time around 200,000 pairs of shoes were destroyed.

Company owner, Engin Yesil, said: "We stock our shoes before distribution in our warehouse and we had a recent stock count. We are happy that nobody had been injured. At the moment, we cannot say anthing for the physical cost of the 200,000 burnt pairs of shoes."

Yesil Kundura San produces a wide range of shoes for men and women, including sports shoes.
