Under Armour makes senior footwear appointment

                    Sports brand Under Armour has appointed Gene McCarthy as its senior vice president of footwear, with effect from August 10.
Mr McCarthy has more than 25 years' experience in the athletic footwear sector, including top positions with Nike, Reebok and Timberland. He will report to company president David McCreight.
"Gene is uniquely qualified to lead Under Armour footwear," Mr McCreight said. "His deep industry experience combined with his leadership, knowledge of the market and his understanding of how to deliver innovative products from conception to creation to the consumer will be tremendous assets as Under Armour builds a world-class footwear business."
For his part, Mr McCarthy said: "Under Armour is known for its best-in-class product, and I am very excited to be part of such an electrifying brand and to work with David and the team."
