Pakistani leather footwear manufacturer Shafi Limited has said it will double its production capacity between now and 2012. The company, which holds a licence to produce shoes for Pierre Cardin in Pakistan, has said it will increase output from its factory in Lahore from 1 million pairs a year to 2 million. The facility is equipped with machinery from Germany and Italy.

The company also plans to increase the number of footwear outlets it has across Pakistan from 20 now to 100 by 2015.

At the PIFS 2009 exhibition at the end of June, the company’s chief executive, Mohammad Ali, told leatherbiz.com that he also wants to appoint more agents in European countries and would welcome their applications.

The company exported footwear worth over $5 million last year to Germany, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, and France, as well as to Saudi Arab, the United Arab Emirates, the US and some African countries last year.
