Vietnam reports "small but encouraging" growth

The Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso) has reported a rise of 1.6% in footwear exports to France for the first six months of this year.
Vietnamese shoe manufacturers exported footwear with a total value of $274 million to the French market during the first half of 2009.
The industry body said that one of the factors that led to this increase, which it called "small but encouraging", was that manufacturers were gaining the benefit of importing raw materials in dollars, but brining in export revenues in euros.
