New ANCI footwear trends released
01/07/2009
ANCI has defined new trends for men and women for the spring-summer 2010 period.
The three new trends for men are Urban Shape, Green Sustainability and Function and Design.
Urban Shape is decisive without being showing. The lace-up has been reworked with a patchwork of materials such as calfskin, thin-shimmed leather, satin and canvas. A more sophisticated version of the moccasin has been made more like the traditional smoking slipper. Extra touches include contrasting inserts for example nubuck combined with lizard, eel or stingray skin. Colours include various shades of blue, African brown and copper.
Green Sustainability shows respect for nature. Shapes are soft and rounded, comfortable and cosy. Materials include supersoft leathers embossed with reptile textures as well as vegetable-tanned nappas and calfskins teamed with linen, cotton and hemp. Leather soles are thin and heels are kept to a minimum. Flowery patterns are important and colours include leafy shades with jasmine and taupe accents.
Function and Design represents sophisticated minimalism with sporting and military points of reference. Uppers are plentiful to contrast with technical, lightweight soles. The trend features iridescent coated side with paper-effect technical nappa. Colours are inspired by the shields of English colleges, enriched with metallics.
The four new trends for women are Navy Urban Chic, Vertical Garden, Techno Romance and South America and Fluo Feelings.
Navy Urban Chic is inspired by the Navy but designed to be worn in the city. It includes upright shapes and big platforms as well as open moccasins with shaped soles. Gold combines with neutral colours such as white, hemp, sand and almond. Other colours include blue, red and brass.
Vertical garden is inspired by workwear, gardening and “bio turn trendy”. Footwear is comfortable ranging from ballerinas to platform sandals. Stitching is very visible and prints are camouflage with a flowery twist. Colours include tomato, raspberry, grape, basil and black horseradish.
Techno Romance reflects the romance of the “Facebook era”. It includes childish prints and flowers inspired by computer design. Lace is teamed with technical meshes and lace-ups have geometric soles. Colours include rose, carnation, sunflower and mimosa. Black and white are also important.
The final trend, South America and Fluo Feelings, is “new-exotic” and “eco-tourist”. It represents elements from Ecuador and Argentina. Major styles include the ankle-high Texan boot and elegant sandals. Colours are intense, including midnight blue, indigo, red earth, cocoa and coffee.
