Mixed bag for shoe exports
According to Pakistan's statistics bureau, the country’s footwear exports totalled $9.6 million in May compared with $12 million in April, a decline of 20%.
Shoe exports for the period July 2008 to May 2009 totalled 13.4 million pairs worth $119.3 million (including leather footwear worth $96.2 million, canvas footwear worth $1.2 million and other footwear worth $22 million) compared with 12.1 million pairs valued at $109.3 million in the same period a year ago, a rise of 9.2%.
