Abicalçados hosts pre-Francal seminar
The Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) is to host a seminar evaluating the impact of the economic slowdown on July 13 in São Paulo.
The 13th edition of the National Seminar of the Footwear Industry precedes Francal, the international shoe, fashion accessory, machinery and component fair, which starts at Anhembi Park on the following day.
Entitled ‘Threats and opportunities for the footwear industry’, the seminar will look at how the crisis has affected Brazil and other markets as well as exploring the ways in which Brazilian firms can create opportunities in terms of establishing new partnerships with international firms. The Regional Programme for Improving the Global Competitiveness of the Latin American Leather and Footwear Industries, developed by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) will also be presented. Speakers will come from the US, Spain and Italy.
According to Heitor Klein, executive director of Abicalçados: “We are living a very different time from other times and the sector needs to follow this movement to make strategic decisions that will make the difference when this period finishes.”
