According to a recent survey in the US, consumers appear to have held back on spending because of the recession. However, it seems many women in the US are not willing to cut back on shoe and handbag purchases.

The Shopping Habits Survey conducted by Shop It To Me showed that half of respondents were spending less overall on clothing and accessories. However, 34% said they were still splashing the cash on expensive shoes and 22% said they were willing to spend extra to get the perfect handbag.

More than 900 women from across the US participated in the survey.
