Casual shoe firm Skechers has launched a new range of fitness footwear called Skechers Shape Ups.
It is designed to simulate the effects of barefoot walking and, according to the company, promotes weight loss, tones muscles, improves posture and helps wearers to get in shape without having to go to the gym.The shoes feature a soft kinetic wedge insert and dynamic rolling outsole so that, as the wearer steps, their heel sinks into the soft cushioned sole and then rolls forward on to the forefoot, before pushing off again with their toes to take another step.
Skechers claims the wearing the shoes uses a greater number of muscles than would be used walking in standard shoes, including the leg, buttock, back and abdominal muscles.
