New FitFlops for men

FitFlops, which were originally exclusively for women, are now available to men. The new Dass FitFlop, which is designed specifically for male customers, has now launched.

The rear of the sandal contains a firm, high-density section that absorbs up to 22% more shock than other flip flops, while the soft, wide section of the midsole creates a slightly unstable platform for the foot. The mid-density section towards the toes is said to provide a firmer area for toe push off and faster step speed.

FitFlop footwear was originally engineered to help ladies work their leg muscles. However, research undertaken at the Salford University in Manchester, UK, suggests the special Microwobbleboard midsole offers other benefits. According to the company, the biomechanically engineered foam and rubber flip-flop can help sufferers of chronic lower back pain.

Its research shows that, with ordinary comfort shoes, force travelled through the heel, through the knee, and then in front of the pelvis, pulling the lower back forward. However, the FitFlop not only reduced the force but realigned that force to travel through the centre of the pelvis, significantly reducing the forward pull on the lower back.

The sandals also redistribute pressure away from painful hot spots on the bottom of the feet and move force closer to the centre of the knee, almost instantly realigning the ground reaction force that travels through the body as the wearer walks.
