Satisfactory visitor numbers at Expo Riva Schuh

10/06/2009

Visitor numbers at Expo Riva Schuh were practically flat with last year’s at 10,247 compared with 10,250. The event ran June 6-9 at the Riva del Garda trade fair complex in Italy.

According to organisers, 6,117 of these visitors came from abroad. The show attracted 1,157 exhibitors including 787 overseas participants from 36 countries.

“We are definitely satisfied with these results”, said Roberto Pellegrini, president of the Riva del Garda Fierecongressi "not only because we opened with a sell-out as far as exhibitors were concerned, but also because we closed with a particularly significant result during a difficult period for the Italian and international economies.”

He claims the economic crisis may even have done the industry a favour. “From what we have seen over these four days, we can say that the crisis has stimulated companies rather than slowing them down: many have invested more than ever into their products and, while keeping prices low, presented a high-fashion range. And this definitely proved to be a success factor, he said.
