India’s Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) has launched a new post graduate diploma in creative designing and CAD/CAM (PGDCD) and the programme has now been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The new PGDCD programme will start this year alongside a range of other programmes including: retail management, fashion, footwear design, technology, management, fashion merchandising, marketing and leathergoods and accessories design. It is a two-year, full-time course.

Managing director of the FDDI, Rajeev Lakhara, said: “The accreditation is concomitant to FDDI’s PGDCD programme that caters to the emerging employment opportunities and work trends of the fashion industry, aimed at empowering individuals with the requisite skills and competencies for the same.”

The institute’s secretary, Shashi Shukla, said: “The AICTE approval of the PGDCD programme of FDDI will widen the scope for the students to secure better placement. We are also confident that the AICTE approvals will evoke interest among those students who are on the threshold of choosing a career and upgrading their skills in this area.”
