Apache Footwear to invest in Andhra Pradesh

A five-member delegation from the Apache Footwear group met the chief minister of state of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Rajasekhara Reddy, on June 2 to discuss future investment in the east Indian region.

The delegation, led by Andrew Chen from Apache’s Hong Kong headquarters and Jerry Chen, general manager of Apache Footwear India, met with the minister to talk about expanding its presence in Andhra Pradesh.

The company already has a footwear manufacturing facility in a special economic zone in Nellore, where 5,000 of its workers are based. According to reports, the group told Mr Reddy it is ready to increase its production capacity from 350,000 to 500,000 pairs per month within a year.
