Taiwan-based Pou Chen International Group is to open a new shoe production unit in Panyang County, China, at a cost of $30 million. Construction at the site started on May 25.

According to the company, it will be the largest shoe producing centre in Jiangxi province. Sports shoes, leather shoes and casual shoes will be produced at the site and the company expects to generate $70 million each year and generate 20,000 jobs.
