Guangdong bounces back

18/05/2009

The latest statistics from the customs authorities in Guangdong show that the value of overseas trade fell by 21.7% to $162.6 billion dollars in the first four months of the year, compared to the same period in 2008.

In spite of this, the situation in labour-intensive sectors, including leathergoods and footwear production, is more positive. Exports of Guangdong-made leathergoods increased by 10.5%, and those of locally made footwear were up slightly, by 0.5%.
