China's customs authorities have reported that the country's export trade in April dropped by 22.8% compared to the same month last year. Total exports for the month we valued at $91.9 billion.
However, in labour-intensive sectors, April exports showed growth. The authorities highlighted footwear as one of the clearest example: shoe exports had a value of $2.06 billion, which represented a 3.8% increase on the figure for April 2008.
