Shoe aid for L'Aquila earthquake victims

06/05/2009

Exactly a month after the city of L'Aquila suffered Italy's worst earthquake in almost 30 years, the charity Caritas has reported that it has distributed 4,000 pairs of shoes to help displaced families.

Caritas said that the shoes were part of a list of goods it had bought, using public donations, to bring immediate relief to victims of the earthquake, which struck on April 6 killing 294 people. Other essential items the charity has distributed include food, water and clothing.
